Moira & Brigg's Wedding Day

Moira and Briggs were happily married at the 1st Congregational Church in Manchester, Vermont on Sunday. It was a fabulous day and every detail was perfect from the flower arrangements by Julane with Flowers Flowers to the monogrammed cake!

Fortunately the skies waited to open up until just after the bagpiper, the newlyweds and their wedding guests paraded from the church back to the Equinox Resort. There was a little break from the rain so we were able to get out for a few photos and the light was glorious. I believe that rain on a wedding day is good luck and the priest confirmed it, so now I know it's true. :-)

Congratulations, Moira and Briggs, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

The Year of the Cat

About a year ago a straggly, starving, stray cat came into our lives and quickly became a part of our family. My daughter, Summer, named him Lucky because she said that he was lucky to find us and we were lucky to find him. My son, Baxter, named him Spot because he has a big, white spot on his back. So his official name is Lucky Spot.

There are many amazing things that happened when he came into our lives. First, I didn't even like cats. At all. They are too needy, they shed everywhere and they are too, well, cat-like. But I am the first to admit that I am in love with our cat. Andy is quite smitten with him too. Our almost 12-year-old poodle, Molasses, has always been infatuated by cats and she was so thrilled to have one for her very own. You are probably thinking that Molasses really just wanted to eat a cat for lunch or torment it day and night. But the funny thing is that Lucky not only tolerates Molasses, he liked her from the start and they are best pals. Lucky walks to the bus stop with us every morning and follows the kids everywhere. He rolls on the driveway and accepts kisses from Molasses. It's very funny when he hides in the bushes and pounces on Molasses. It cracks us up. We all love that he gets really funny and feisty one minute and the next minute he's a cuddly love bug. It's so sweet that he snuggles up with the kids at night.

He has also made many friends in the neighborhood. He makes his rounds and gives everyone the impression that they are his one and only. But he always comes home to us. My next door neighbor thinks we should buy him a gold chain for his neck because he struts around like he's king of the world.
Summer was right...we are lucky!

May Update

Spring is in full bloom here and I've been a busy bee!

I literally stepped off the plane from our trip to Disney World, threw some clothes in a bag and headed off to the yearly convention and competition with the Vermont Professional Photographers.

I was honored to win a Judge's Choice Award for a fox I photographed from my kitchen window this past winter! The special treat of the convention was the chance to hear Joe McNally, described by American Photo Magazine as "perhaps the most versatile photojournalist working today." He delighted us with many stories encountered when photographing for National Geographic, Life and Time magazines, Sports Illustrated, and many other publications, including also one of his most moving photo creations: Faces of Ground Zero--Giant Polaroid Collection.

A few days at home and I was off again to NYC to visit some fun photography pals (Robin and Barrie), meet two couples for engagement sessions, and have coffee with some potential clients (who we will be photographing a wedding for in September!) Yahoo! :-)

Okay, enough fun, I've got to get back to work!

p.s. I hope all of you fabulous moms out there had an extra special day on Sunday!
My kids gave me the sweetest hand-made cards, we ate yummy pancakes, I puttered in the garden, we saw Spider Man 3 and went out to dinner. The perfect day! :-)

Moira + Briggs

I traveled to NYC last week for a couple of days of work and fun. On Tuesday afternoon I met up with an awesome couple, Moira and Briggs, for their engagement session in Central Park. The weather couldn't have been better and the park was in full bloom with flowers of every color. We had so much fun running around the park snapping pictures. I am really looking forward to hanging out with them again on the 27th at their wedding here in Vermont. They will be married at the very classic Equinox Resort in Manchester.

Chillin' with Mickey and Friends

We just returned from our week of fun at Disney World. We visited The Magic Kingdom (3 times), MGM, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Blizzard Beach (a Disney water park). The rest of the time was spent swimming at our hotel pool and simply enjoying the warmth and sunshine. It was sad to leave, but thankfully we have lots of photos to remember our great times. I picked a few of my favorites to share with you. Enjoy!

A snapshot of the Wilderness Lodge where we stayed for a few nights. We spent the remainder of our trip at Disney's Beach Club.

A mural at the Animal Kingdom.

We met up with some of our favorite friends, the Pasleys, on Wednesday at the Animal Kingdom. Here are Will, Patty and Mia.

The Tree of Life at the center of the Animal Kingdom is 50 feet wide and has 325 animal carvings. It's amazing!

Bougainvillea is one of my favorite flowers. Too bad it doesn't like the Northeast!

We spent Thursday with the Pasleys in the Magic Kingdom. First stop...the Dumbo ride!

Kids who misbehave at Disney get locked up with the evil Emperor Zurg. ;-)

Summer, Mia, Patty and I dined in Cinderella's Castle amongst the princesses to celebrate Summer's 9th birthday. Patty felt we had won the lottery to be there. It was quite the magical experience, I must admit.

Andy took this photo of one of many beautiful mosaics in the hall of the castle.

Max couldn't wait to get on this carousel. Here he is with his dad, Tom.

Photos from Epcot...

A fun way to cool off.

We had a family celebration for Summer's actual 9th birthday with another fancy lunch. This time it was in a Norwegian castle in Epcot with visits from Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora and Ariel. Summer was so happy when she was presented with a birthday card signed by all of the princesses when lunch was over. Lucky girl!

Hmmmmm....which one is Dopey?!

Our last hurrah in Disney was the fireworks show at Epcot.
