Jennifer + Adolfo's Wedding

Jennifer & Adolfo married on a spectacular August day at Jen's parents' house in central Vermont. Jennifer is an amazing artist and has had her work displayed in exhibitions all around the world. Jen & Adolpho met in Peru via mutual friends, while many of their friends are also accomplished artists, with one of them even custom-making the huppa out of recycled cassette tape!

It was a great honor and privilege to share in the joy of such a beautiful union and celebration!

Enjoy some of my favorite moments from the day...

I've been tagged!

A few weeks ago, my friend, Amanda Harris tagged me in a little game going around in blog land. In this game, I'm supposed to tell you 8 things about me that you probably don't know.

so here goes...

1. I am a serious sap! I well up very easily. I cry when I am very happy and very sad. I am embarrassed by the fact that I cry so often. It happens at the movies, during weddings (yes, while I am photographing them!), while reading the newspaper, when I hear amazing stories, even during t.v. commercials. It is out of control! Someone told me recently that it’s a good thing because I really care about people and that’s what makes me a good photographer. I’ll buy it!

2. This is really shameful to admit…but I stalk this really bad website almost every day called: Go Fug Yourself. It’s bad and wicked, but it really makes me laugh. When Andy hears my giggling he always knows what I’m up to.

3. One of my favorite things in the whole world is snuggling with my family in the morning! When the kids were toddlers, they would sneak into our bed at some point before the morning. They learned that if they were wiggly worms, I would make them go back to bed. It’s crazy because there are sometimes 6 creatures on our bed when I wake up. Andy and I, the kids, the puppy and the kitty. It’s crowded, but I adore it! Summer doesn’t do it so much now and before too long, Baxter will probably grow out of it too. So I have to enjoy it while it lasts!

4. I played house wife for years when my hubby was a famous bike racer in Europe (he never once cheated either!). I always knew that it was not my destiny to wear an apron full-time, so I was thrilled to find photography when our daughter was born. I guess you could call me a MWAC (mom with a camera)!

5. When I was 21 and living in California, I was aspiring to be a great bike racer. While out for a training ride a few days before my racing season started, I was hit and literally run over by a Dodge Ram van. Yes indeed…right over my rib cage with the front and back wheels. There were a lot miracles that day: a fire station 200 yards away, a CHP helicopter in the vicinity to fly me to the ER, and the ER doctors at UC Davis Medical Center being ready and waiting for my arrival, but it was the all people who cared for me that day and the months that followed that I remember the most. My heroes!

6. Being a California girl transplanted to Vermont, I can’t help but love and miss the ocean. I’m not crazy about 6 months of winter either, but the people in Vermont are the best people you could ever know!

7. I have a husband who loves me enough to make me a huge café latte every morning. I love to hold it in my hands and sip it while reading the morning paper. The lap of luxury.

8. I have had a best friend since I was 3 years old. Her name is Jenny and we met in pre-school. Most of my favorite childhood memories were from time spent with Jenny and her family. We spent summers in the pool, pretended we spoke foreign languages, played Parcheesi and War for hours on end, and giggled and laughed until we cried. When times were rough for my family in high school, her family took me in and loved me like one of their own. When we graduated from high school we bicycled through Europe together. The best of times! They are all still near and dear to my heart. xoxo!

Now I'm supposed to tag 8 other bloggers...

Joe Pulcinella,Larry and Tabitha, Mike Colon, Mike Larsen, Me Ra Koh, Grandmother Gigi, Jen Lee, Terry Clark

Ave and Heidi's wedding at the farm!

This isn't your typical Vermont farm with cows, tractors and a big red barn. This is the majestic Shelburne Farms . It's one of my favorite places on earth.

I have dreamed of photographing a wedding at the farm, so it was fitting that Andy and I had the special honor of documenting the dream wedding of Ave and Heidi. This couple and their friends and family are simply wonderful!

I had such a hard time narrowing down photos for the blog; which is certainly a good problem to have.

So without further ado...here are a handful of my favorites from the day...

The day begins...
Ave helps Heidi's brother with his tie...
the magic of lens flair...
Heidi sparkles!
The very handsome Ave!
Heidi is escorted by her father and step-father down the aisle.
the flowers were gorgeous!
The perfect setting!
Here's Heidi's fabulous cousin, Amanda. We'll be photographing her wedding by the lake next summer. Check out her beautiful images from the day on her blog, HERE! (scroll way down!)

A magical day!
just married!
heading to the coach barn...
Mr. and Mrs. Cook!

Some reception fun!
Heidi's brother gave an incredible toast!

Barb and the folks at Let's Pretend Catering did an awesome job with the food and this yummy cobbler!
Heidi & Ave (aka Fred & Ginger) during their first dance...

Leah + Peter's Burlington Wedding

Leah & Peter's fabulous wedding has the distinct honor of being my 100th post! :-D

There were SO many things I loved about this wedding! Leah and Peter's wedding day was totally fun, fresh and unique. They tied the knot at the Unitarian Church at the top of Church Street and following the ceremony we had such a blast walking down to the reception near the waterfront at the beautiful new Waterfront Theatre.
Words can't describe how wonderful the day was, it will far easier to just show you...

Leah was absolutely stunning...Leah and her favorite friends began their day at the spanking new Marriot overlooking the lake.
what a view...
Yet another beautiful bouquet by Alison Bucholz-Ellis Floral Artistry...
a detail of the dress...
Have you seen a happier bride?
Andy snapped up this beautiful moment after the ceremony...
magic light...
Shoppers and diners applauded for the happy couple and their wedding party paraded down Church Street and a street musician played "here comes the bride" on a pan flute. It was unforgettable!

cool reflection!

Peter was such a dashing groom!
Leah and her girlfriends danced up a storm to Grease Lightning...
Crazy in love...
Some romance at twilight...

Thanks for letting us share in the joy of your wedding day. I adore you both!!

Puppy Love!

We have a fuzzy new family member and his name is Yeti! Yeti is another name for the Abominable Snowman. We picked him up a week ago on Monday and now we can't imagine life without him. Except I do have a feeling it was easier then. Baxter thinks his middle name should be "mischief" because he wants to chew everything except his own toys. Very naughty indeed. But with a face as cute as his, he is easy to forgive.

So our story begins with a bit of a saga...
The day before we were scheduled to pick up our pup, the breeder, Bonnie of Desjardins Poodles called and informed us that Yeti was running with the bigger puppies and broke his leg. We were devastated and had to make a big decision as a family if we should still get him. The kids wouldn't take no for an answer, so we drove 8 hours to Buffalo, New York and met our guy and his family. His home environment was so loving and we knew the second we met him and the clan that it was the right decision. He was SO sweet! (Little did we realize that when his pain medication wore off he would be mr. personality!)
The next day we took him in to Bonnie's vet and had his leg rechecked and wrapped again. We said our final good-byes to Yeti's family and we made our way home.

The puparazzi have been busy snapping up photos...here are just a few of my favs of our first week with our little lovie...

love at first sight...
the vet's office...
Yeti should be ready to romp in 3 weeks...
my, what big paws you have...
Yeti with his litter mates. He's a very big boy!
Summer's new b.f.f.
Yeti's mommy, Liza...
Yeti's auntie...
Bonnie says good-bye...

Aren't I the cutest?

being a puppy is exhausting!
